Rida Hasan
Biography
Rida is an upper-year PhD candidate at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto. She is a member of Dr. Eli Sone’s lab who specializes in biological and bioinspired materials, spanning research on collagen-based hydrogels to mussel-inspired adhesives. Currently, Rida is investigating the suite of novel proteins discovered from the freshwater mussel to elucidate the adhesion mechanism under wet conditions in hopes of spurring the development of a new generation of medical bioadhesives. She earned her undergraduate degree from Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto with a specialization in Biochemistry and a minor in Immunology.
