Presentation Title: From Plaster to Pixels: Comparing Traditionally and Digitally-made Ankle-foot Orthosis (AFO) Scanning and Design Methods
Abstract:
Ankle-foot orthoses are used to stabilize the ankle
and foot. They are traditionally fabricated through a manual plaster process but are increasingly being manufactured using digital technology. When using digital technology, it is critical to capture the foot and ankle in alignment in all planes. Sagittal-plane alignment is well understood, but optimal transverse/frontal alignment remains unclear and will be assessed by testing new positioning during digital fabrication.
