Presentation Title: Implantable Devices with Multimodal Sensing Capabilities for the Assessment of Deep Tissue
Abstract: Conventional non-invasive optical and bioelectrical approaches for the assessment of hemodynamic and fibrotic states remain limited in their ability to interrogate deep tissue. This work presents a series of unimodal and multimodal implants featuring multi-wavelength photoplethysmography (PPG) and bioimpedance (BIOZ) sensing capabilities. The implants are evaluated in healthy and fibrotic disease models and under a variety of hemodynamic challenges, enabling blood-volume-invariant tissue oximetry and the identification of novel fibrotic biomarkers.
