Facilities
Teaching Laboratory
The Teaching Laboratory a one of the teaching facilities hosted by BME. With more than 3,000 square foot, it houses state-of-the-art technologies for multidisciplinary engineering education.
Its main space and the adjacent Cell & Tissue Culture Room has a capacity for 60 students and instructors combined.
In addition to facilitating the practical components of more than 10 biomedical engineering courses, the BME Teaching Lab also hosts classes for the Departments of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry (ChemE), Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), Mechanical & Industrial Engineering (MIE) as well as the Division of Engineering Science in collaboration with the U of T Institute of Aerospace Studies (UTIAS).
A number of the laboratory's instruments are acquired with the support of the Engineering Society's Student Levy Fund.
Design Studio
The BME Design Studio is an instructional and collaboration space for biomedical engineering design and education. It also houses a variety of 3D printing resources for use by students and researchers at U of T.
The Design Studio is made up of two distinct spaces for advanced learning (details below). Together, they enable interdisciplinary course delivery, training and career development opportunities for students across the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine.
Both spaces have open-access hours available to students across the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering for the completion of course assignments and design projects. Reservation priority will be given to undergraduate students in biomedical engineering.
Research labs and student clubs may also request access to this space. Fees for time and materials use may apply.
