We are pleased to announce that Gary Hoang has joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) as the Teaching Lab and Design Studio Coordinator, effective April 8, 2026.
Gary Hoang has returned to the Institute of Biomedical Engineering after a brief appointment at Sanofi, where he served as a Technical Group Leader supporting operations and digital manufacturing integration for a GMP-regulated flu vaccine manufacturing facility. His industry experience further strengthens his contributions to BME’s teaching laboratories and design studio.
Gary brings extensive experience in academic laboratory operations as well as GMP-regulated biomanufacturing. Since August 2019, he has overseen the day-to-day operations of BME’s teaching laboratories, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-resourced environments for undergraduate and graduate education. His work has included supervising and training students and teaching assistants, maintaining complex scientific equipment, managing chemical inventories and purchasing, developing standard operating procedures, and leading laboratory health and safety initiatives.
In this role, Gary will oversee the Teaching Laboratory and Design Studio, providing operational support to courses, assisting with laboratory setup and maintenance, and ensuring that students and instructors have access to safe, well-equipped spaces for hands-on biomedical engineering education.
