Facilities

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (BME) offers a range of specialized facilities designed to support hands-on learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic engagement. These include the state-of-the-art Teaching Laboratory, which accommodates up to 60 participants and serves multiple engineering departments; the BME Design Studio, featuring both collaboration and fabrication suites equipped with 3D printing resources; and dedicated meeting rooms reserved for BME students, staff, and faculty. Each space is tailored to foster innovation, teamwork, and practical skill development across biomedical engineering and related disciplines.

Teaching Laboratory

The Teaching Laboratory is a 3,000+ square foot facility hosted by BME, equipped with advanced technologies for multidisciplinary engineering education. It includes a main space and an adjacent Cell & Tissue Culture Room, accommodating up to 60 students and instructors.

The lab supports practical components of over 10 biomedical engineering courses and also hosts classes from ChemE, ECE, MIE, and Engineering Science in collaboration with UTIAS. Many of its instruments are funded through the Engineering Society's Student Levy Fund.
