The ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship call for 2025 just opened for applications of new candidates! The North America program offers students in Canada an opportunity for a fully-funded Research Project in a Swiss laboratory of your choice and with a value of close to 3000 CAD per month.
Candidates should be:
- Enrolled at an accredited Canadian university or research institute.
- Currently enrolled in a PhD, Master’s program or have completed their second year of undergraduate degree by the time the research stay in Switzerland begins.
While the scholarship is open to all fields, we specifically encourage students from Canadian institutions with a background in the fields of Quantum, AI, Space, Sustainability and Bioengineering to apply.
In your applications you should make a good case, why you would like to spend up to three months in a lab in Switzerland and which colleagues you consider beneficial to work with, or which archive to work in, etc.

We are currently recruiting for a study investigating pain-avoidance and reward-based learning. This study involves coming to our lab for 1 visit. During the visit, you will perform a probability game where your goal will be to avoid pain and maximize reward. You will be compensated up to $45 and the total time commitment is approximately 2 hours.

To mark World AMR Awareness Week, we have partnered with bioMerieux Canada to bring you the third annual AMR symposium on November 19 and 20, 2024. If you would like to submit a poster abstract, please fill out the form, and to register for the event, please visit the event page.
EPIC Future Leaders Prizescelebrate the best and brightest PhD students who graduated in 2024 among the EPIC research community. These competitive prizes identify the top graduates in each of four streams: applied and/or translational research, clinical research, fundamental research, and population, global and public health research. Nominees will be put forward by a faculty member (typically their supervisor) with a primary appointment at the University of Toronto or one of EPIC’s partner research institutes. Nomination deadline is January 15th, 2025.

Please note that the Ethics in Research Seminar is mandatory for all FASE MASc and PhD students to attend and to leave a record of their attendance, to meet their degree requirements. Ideally, students are requested to participate in this course during their first course of study.
PLEASE NOTE: Attending and getting credit for this seminar is a graduation requirement. We highly recommend you doing it early in your academic career so it doesn’t delay things at the end!

In 2019, Science Magazine, one of the leading peer reviewed journals, did a webinar called, Fighting Fake Science (Links to an external site.) with the objective of discussing the themes raised. A recording of the webinar is available at the above link. Some of the same themes discussed in the webinar are similar to the discussion we will be having. We highly recommend listening to the webinar before attending this lecture.
We have also created a form to get to know you and any issues you might be having. This is an optional way for you to bring forth some challenges you may be having in an anonymous way. No names will be collected or shared; any names added in the form will be changed prior to the lecture, but this is a way to tie together the real-world with the theoretical one.
