Saving lives – one breath at a time

August 4, 2021 | Derek Watt completed his Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2007. Now working as the Director of Commercial Products at Thornhill Medical, Derek is part of a team that designs, builds, and supplies a robust line of field-ready respiratory devices. Thornhill Medical’s products are specifically designed for military, field hospital, transport medical and first responder teams.

Graduated from BME in 2010, Dr. Yip completed her Masters in Systems Biology and PhD in mechanobiology research. Graduated in 2018 from Dr. Tom Chau’s lab at BME, Amanda spent majority of her PhD researching brain-computer interfaces and various cloth materials that could be applied to commercial products.
