Adventures in Sciences (AIS) is a mentorship program affiliated with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine all about scientific communication and discovery, and we are excited to be entering the 13th year of our program. Each year, AIS recruits medical and graduate mentors to work with a group of over 200 high school students.
As a mentor, you would be paired with another medical/graduate student to mentor a group of grade 11–12 students to work on a longitudinal science project (LSP) that will eventually be shared with a classroom of elementary school students around Toronto at the end of the academic year. We are also recruiting for the AIS Junior Director positions (1 medical student & 1 graduate student)! This position is a 2-year term. In the first year (2025–2026), you will work closely with the Senior Directors to lead the program under their guidance. During the second year (2026–2027), Junior Directors graduate to Senior Directors and continue to lead the program with a year’s experience under their belt. Finally, we are also recruiting for Logistics Coordinators(2 positions) who will be responsible for coordinating all the virtual aspects of the hybrid programming with the directors.

We’re excited to share an incredible volunteer opportunity with the Saturday Program (U of T – St. George Campus), the largest community outreach initiative under the U of T Medical Society. Since 1996, our program has provided free tutoring and mentorship to help high school students in Toronto—many from underrepresented or marginalized communities—discover their potential and achieve their educational goals.
We are looking for students looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth, and develop themselves along the way. By joining the program you will:
- Build leadership and teaching skills through hands-on tutoring and mentorship.
- Develop cultural competence and communication skills by working with diverse student populations.
- Collaborate with peers across healthcare disciplines (medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and more).
- Gain verifiable volunteer experience with opportunities to connect with community partners and healthcare professionals.
Volunteering with the Saturday Program is more than community service—it’s a chance to grow as a mentor, strengthen professional skills, and become part of a vibrant U of T tradition of equity and empowerment.
What is the time commitment?
The program runs from January 10th, 2026 to March 28th, 2026 and will run for 10 Saturdays. Each session is held in the Medical Sciences Building and goes from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Each volunteer must attend at least 8/10 sessions to be eligible for CCR and volunteer verification.

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to the first Canadian Conference in Organoid Research (CANCOR) / Conférence Canadienne sur la Recherche Organoïde (CCRO), which will be held on November 5-6, 2025, in London, ON, Canada. This event aims to bring together leading researchers, clinicians, and industry experts to discuss the latest advancements in organoid development and patient-derived 3D cell modelling for studying human health and disease. Based on the nature of organoid research and its applicability to patient-focused care, it is critical to include healthcare providers and policymakers and consider EDI concerns in integrating and using organoids from under-represented populations.
The program will feature:
- Keynote presentations from world-renowned experts
- Sessions on cutting-edge 3D model systems and translational applications
- Opportunities for networking and collaboration across disciplines and sectors
Our special keynote speaker will be Dr. Hans Clevers, Director of the Institute of Human Biology and one of the world’s leading researchers on stem cells and their potential for regenerative therapy.
